Bruce, did the winners get paid on the spot, or the check is in the mail??

Mike Checks were issued by Chuck Sundstrom from the tower on race night.

Ken, I forget how much the team membership is, but it was like half price this year.

It is $35 dollars to join the team. I've just posted some information on the team firebird web site about how the ND Challenge race works. You can get to it by clicking on the "Other Race Information & Rules" tab on the following page. http://www.teamfirebird.com/Rules.aspx?acct=2

Is it true that only Team Firebird members can win the WALLY? Don't shoot me. I have been told this and a number of people have asked me this same question.

Chuck O, the team FB members compeat for the wally in their respective bracket.
The open class is for all non team FB members to compeat. for a wally as well.
The below is from the team firebird web site that Rich is refering to.

National Dragster Challenge Race

Each season one team race is designated as a National Dragster Challenge Race. The rules for this event differ slightly from the other team events and are outlined below.

· In addition to the normal Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman, and Motorcycle classes an Open class will be run as well.

· For this event ONLY, you MUST be a current Team Firebird member to race in the Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman, and Motorcycle classes.

· You do NOT have to be a current Team Firebird Member to run in the Open Class

· Rules for the Open Class are as follows:

o The class is open to vehicles with or without electronics. The ET index is 7.00 -19.99.

o Crosstalk is on. If you do not want crosstalk you must put an “N” with a circle around it next to your dial.

o Current Team Firebird Members CAN run in this class, and their normal class, in the same (or different) vehicle if they choose too.

o Fee’s ($62.00) and payouts will mirror the Pro Class.

· All class winners receive an NHRA Wally.

Ken, I sent your question to Chuck Sundstrom and he texted back $62.00 is what it cost to race in the open class.

I have always disagreed with the way they run the National Dragster Challenge Race. They should open the classes to anybody and have bigger pay out in every class....With the team membership so low this year....the open class pay out may be bigger than any of the team classes
